You might be familiar with the expression “mi casa es su casa,” which is Spanish for “my house is your house.” At Southern New Hampshire University, it might be more appropriate for us to say to our students and alumni, “nuestra marca es su marca,” or our brand is your brand.
Personal branding has gained a great deal of attention in the past five years, particularly with the growth in the usage of social media. Many people think about personal branding in terms of how you promote yourself online and in face-to-face networking; however, it really starts with who you are as an individual. The effort to brand yourself starts with an honest assessment of your knowledge, skills, abilities and personal attributes, and the aspects that differentiate you from others.
Because you are part of the SNHU community, the strength and reputation of the SNHU brand serves to enhance your own personal brand. The SNHU brand attributes of quality and innovation reflect positively on you and provide a boost to your personal brand attributes. As you consider your brand positioning and your value proposition as you pursue your career goals, your education at Southern New Hampshire University is a prominent component.
Your SNHU education provides a platform for standing above others in your career field. The quality reputation of SNHU permeates your personal brand and will prove to be a strong leverage point to aid you in your career growth.
“SNHU’s reputation stands out among the rest because it is different, it is unique and it is dependable,” says Brian Vas, assistant vice president of SNHU Career. “This information is vital for any students and alumni who are job seeking. They should be aware of the power that their degree has.”
This aspect has become increasingly true as SNHU has become more widely known throughout the United States. According to Scott Durand, vice president of Marketing and Student Recruitment, SNHU’s name recognition has increased significantly over the past two years. In just the last year, the percentage of survey participants who recognized the SNHU brand increased eight percentage points based on a national survey.
“The increase of our footprint to become a national presence benefits all SNHU students, whether they are from our traditional campus, College for America or online programs,” Durand says. “We are graduating thousands of students a year who are moving into the workforce across the nation.”
Plus, SNHU’s advertising keeps the university in front of those who otherwise would not be aware of it.
